Mountain Laurel WriteupIt's a bit "ironic" that nary a day goes by without someone stepping into Iron Accents 6,000 square foot showroom to inquire about an Elvis Presley style entry gate or sturdy fencing. One peek inside the door and its clear this store doesn't specialize in cattle containment or industrial revolution. What began as a web business in 1999 because the owner, Valerie Kirves, couldn't find the specialty wrought iron pieces she wanted for her own home, has exploded into an interior accent niche- market that focuses not only on artistic, blacksmith forged furniture and accessories but also incorporates antiques, primitives, architectural elements, gift items and seasonal florals in an eye-popping series of studied vignettes.

There was a time when Valerie enlisted her family to bend, weld and patina the pieces she was selling on her fledgling web commerce site. Rust stains are but a distant memory as she now represents over 70 individual artists, manufacturers and importers in sales of bar stools to beds, benches to brackets and consoles to curtain rods. Many items have customizable finishes and can be design modified to suit a space or décor. The Iron Accents on-line "e-tail" experience still represents the bulk of their customer focused, quality driven business, and Tara Supron who has been with Kirves since 2003, manages overall sales and shares web customer support with another long time staff member, Hannah Ballew. The positive and voluminous consumer testimonials are the result of these two taking ownership of every order and shipment. Locals, too, have the opportunity to cross the showroom threshold and absorb the look and feel of some of the collection's most popular products and service ethic.

The store's signature furniture components are beautifully dressed with table linens, glassware, wine accents, gourmet foods, uncommon gift ideas, carefully edited antiques and holiday adornments. Do not complete your Christmas shopping until you have seen the gorgeous array of table ware from Gracious Goods and Belaverra. The showroom itself is a fanciful forest of decorated trees, swags and pin point lights coaxing visitors from one delightful display to another. And around every turn you'll find something whimsical or inspiring.

Iron Accents further impresses with the addition of a Bridal Registry, gift wrapping, shipping, event planning, centerpieces, gift certificates, custom orders, referral programs and a "wish list" service that scouts the market for items of interest or desire. They should refer to themselves as "personal genies." Come spring a new gardening area, complete with a potting shed built from reclaimed wood, will bloom outside the store… Sign up now for your In The Know e-mail notification!

Old friend or new, Iron Accents welcomes you Monday through Saturday from 10 AM - 6PM, and during the month of December they're adding extended hours on Thursday evenings. You can shop until 8:00 PM those nights while enjoying light hors d'oeuvres and beverages of a grape nature as thanks for first time or long term patronage. And, really, the pleasure will be all yours
