Glass bubble terrariums offer a unique and captivating way to display a variety of plants. When choosing plants for your terrarium, it's important to consider factors like size, growth habits, and care requirements. Here are some plant options that work well in glass bubble terrariums:

  • Succulents: Succulents are popular choices for terrariums because they are low-maintenance and come in various shapes and colors. Echeveria, Haworthia, and Sedum varieties are good options.
  • Air Plants (Tillandsia): Air plants are epiphytic, which means they don't need soil to grow. They can be attached to decorative elements within the terrarium and require occasional misting.
  • Ferns: Miniature ferns like Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum) or Miniature Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) thrive in the humid environment created within a closed terrarium.
  • Moss: Moss varieties, such as Sheet Moss or Mood Moss, can create a lush carpet at the base of your terrarium and provide a natural look.
  • Miniature Orchids: Some miniature orchids, like the Phalaenopsis species, can do well in terrariums due to their smaller size and preference for high humidity.
  • Fittonia (Nerve Plant): Fittonia plants are known for their vibrant and contrasting leaf colors. They are well-suited to the high humidity environment of a closed terrarium.
  • Peperomia: Peperomia varieties, such as Peperomia obtusifolia, have small, attractive leaves and are well-suited to the conditions of a glass terrarium.
  • Baby's Tears (Soleirolia soleirolii): This ground cover plant produces a delicate and lush carpet of tiny leaves, creating a soft and enchanting appearance.
  • Pilea (Pilea depressa): Also known as the Friendship Plant, Pilea features tiny round leaves and works well in terrariums.
  • Miniature African Violets: Some mini African violet varieties are compact and can thrive in the controlled environment of a glass terrarium.
  • Remember to choose plants that have similar light and moisture requirements, and consider the size of your terrarium to ensure that your plants won't outgrow the space too quickly. Additionally, it's essential to provide proper care, including occasional watering and monitoring for any signs of overgrowth or disease. Enjoy creating your miniature green oasis!
