1772 Fire Back

Many people think of a fire-back as being purely decorative, but they do indeed serve several very practical purposes. Cast iron fire-backs make the fireplace more efficient in heating the house by absorbing heat and then radiating the heat directly into the room. Also, fire-backs protect firebrick helping to increase the life of the fireplace. Our 1772 Hopewell Fire Back can be used with both gas logs and wood burning fire places, it is designed to rest on the floor of the hearth, however fire-back feet may be used if extra height is desired.
