Measuring for a bay window rod is simpler than it looks. You’re just capturing the length of each wall and how those walls connect—then we take care of the rest.
Measure along the wall, and we’ll handle the angles, adjustments, and final fit.
Measure Each Wall Section
Start by deciding where your rod will begin and end. These points should be measured at the base of the finials, not including the finials themselves.
From there, measure directly along the wall in three sections:
We refer to these as the left, center, and right sections (BLB, BCB, and BRB), but don’t worry—we’ll organize everything once you send your measurements.

Step 2: Measure the Corner Angles
Next, we’ll need the angle where each wall meets. This helps us create a rod that fits your space precisely.
The easiest way to measure this is with two business cards. Place one card against each wall at the corner, slide them together until they meet, then trace that angle onto a piece of paper. This gives us an exact copy of your wall angle. You can send that to us, or simply provide the angle in degrees if you prefer.
Most bay windows are around 135°, but angles can vary, so it’s important to measure each corner individually.
How Your Rod Is Designed to Fit
Each section of your rod is joined with a hidden, flexible connector inside the rod.
This allows the rod to:
We calculate everything—from connector placement to bracket spacing—based on your measurements.
Optional: Precision Miter Cut
For a more seamless look at the corners, you can request a Precision Miter Cut.
This cuts the rod to match your exact angle and hides the connector from view, while still allowing flexibility for installation.
