    Romanesque Garden Arbor

Strip an arbor down to its essentials and this is roughly what's left: two slender iron legs and a crown of hand-scrolled curls, topped with a small leaf flourish, like the top rail of an old iron gate raised up on its own. There's no lattice, no side panels - just air and ironwork, which is exactly why the scrollwork gets to be the whole story. Photographed against a classic New England cape and a fence full of hydrangea, it reads as though it's always been there. Spiked legs anchor it into the ground; display feet are available as an add-on for patio placement.

Most garden arbors give the eye somewhere to land the whole way up - lattice, geometric panels, a second layer of detail. The Romanesque Garden Arbor doesn't. It's built almost entirely of open air, two slender legs rising to a crown of hand-scrolled curls finished with a small leaf flourish at the very peak, closer in spirit to the top rail of an antique iron gate than a boxed-in arch. That restraint is the point: with nothing else competing for attention, the scrollwork alone carries the whole design.

At over 9 feet tall but just 48 inches wide, it holds a narrow, upright silhouette suited to a single gateway or a slim gap in a fence line, rather than a wide garden path. Cast in wrought iron and finished in a graphite powder coat, it resists weather while keeping its slim profile. Spiked legs secure it directly into the ground; display feet are available as an add-on for anyone placing it on a patio or other hard surface instead.

Its whole design lives in that scrolled crown - put it where that matters:

    • Set it at a narrow gap in a picket or split-rail fence, where its slim, nearly-transparent frame reads as a proper gate rather than a garden ornament.
    • Let a single climbing hydrangea or clematis wind loosely through the scrolls at the top, leaving the bare legs below untouched.
    • Use it to mark a threshold between a front yard and a side garden, somewhere its narrow footprint won't crowd a walkway.
    • Skip vines entirely for winter and let the bare ironwork stand against snow - the open scrollwork was made to be seen through, not covered.
    • Add the display feet and set it just inside a porch or patio's edge as a freestanding, sculptural gateway with nothing to plant at all.
    • Pair it with a cottage-style fence and flowering shrubs, the way it's staged, so the scrolled crown echoes the softness of the blooms around it.

Inspired by the traditional European ironwork of the past, these unique hand crafted pieces are destined to become the heirlooms of your future.
