    Bellhaven Cane Back Dining Chair

An oval of hand-caned webbing sits inside a bentwood frame, curved just enough to cradle the shoulders the way old bistro chairs always have. Below it, slim wood legs arch and cross before they reach the floor, a small flourish borrowed from Thonet's original playbook. The wood wears a warm, antique-natural tone that looks like it's already collected a few decades of dinners. Cane keeps the whole chair breathable and light on its feet, easy to carry from table to porch and back.

Out of stock - Shipment due 12/01

Long before bentwood chairs became a design cliché, someone figured out that steaming and bending wood into gentle curves made for a chair that was both sturdy and light — and the Bellhaven borrows every bit of that logic. Its oval cane back is hand-woven into a warm, antique-natural frame, with slender legs that arch and meet in a detail as decorative as it is structural. The cane keeps the seat cool and breathable, a small kindness during long dinners, while the curved silhouette means it never reads as heavy, no matter how many are gathered around a table. It's equally comfortable at a scrubbed dining table or pulled up solo to a writing desk in the corner of a sunlit room.

Where the Bellhaven likes to pull up a seat: - At the head of a farmhouse table, cane back catching the last of the evening light. - Beside a vanity, cane-backed and ready for the unhurried business of getting dressed. - Grouped six around a dining table for a dinner that leans more heirloom than trendy. - Tucked into a bay window reading nook, paired with a small side table and a stack of books. - In a breakfast nook, easy to pull close for two and push aside for one. - Alongside a console table in an entryway, more sculpture than seating until someone actually sits.

Whether you are looking for period charm, a style of elegant restraint or just want to infuse a spirit of playfulness, you'll find it here.
