    Briarhollow Faux Bois Side Chair

Look twice and you'll swear it grew there — a forked branch splitting up the seatback like something pruned by hand, the whole frame cast in a soft washed-gray finish that mimics real bark down to the ridges and knots. The seat reads like a weathered plank, grain and all, though it's cast metal built to survive rain, frost, and every season between. Faux bois has always been garden sleight of hand, wood's likeness without the fuss of the real thing. Set it along a garden path, and let the trick settle in. It arrives fully assembled.

Faux bois — literally 'false wood' — is the trick 19th-century French gardeners perfected when they wanted the poetry of a woodland branch without the upkeep of an actual tree limb. The Briarhollow carries that sleight of hand into a full dining chair: a forked branch back that splits like it's still growing, four slender cast legs, and a seat cast with the swirl and grain of real timber, all finished in a soft, weathered gray that looks like it's spent a decade in dappled shade. It holds its shape through wind and weather in ways a real branch never could, settling in just as easily among a border of ferns as at the head of an outdoor dining table.

A few corners of the garden where the Briarhollow loves to take root: - Beside a bed of hydrangea, where its branch-back nearly disappears into the real foliage behind it. - At a wrought iron bistro table, holding court over morning coffee before the dew burns off. - Tucked beside the potting bench, ready for muddy gloves and cut stems alike. - Lining a brick walkway, spaced out like little way-stations for anyone pausing to admire the roses. - On a covered porch, where its faux bark holds its own against actual weather. - Paired with a stone-topped table for a dinner under string lights, half woodland, half garden party.
