Montclair takes its name from the carved bloom that opens across the crest rail, one small flourish that sets the tone for the whole chair. Beneath it, a hand-caned panel catches the light the way lace does, airy and fine against the solid, whitewashed oak frame — cabriole legs curving out to a carved rosette at each knee, the joinery worn to a soft, chalky gray that reads more heirloom than new. The seat, cushioned in a cool dove-gray linen, keeps things comfortable enough for a long dinner, while the carved bones keep it dressed for company. It settles easily at a dining table, a writing desk, or a quiet corner that could use a little polish.
